Company launches successfully in region through grassroots holiday blitz
A national wireless provider, Cricket came to the Wisconsin market looking to generate brand awareness, build a customer base, and establish strong community relationships. Cricket found its match with “the Monkeys.” Through a combination of strategic planning, media and community relations, and grassroots guerrilla tactics, the team worked to spread a “Cricket craze” in the Midwest.
With a November launch, Buzz Monkeys proposed a “Cricket lends a helping hand for the holidays” theme to best convey the message. Promotions and street team outreach efforts centered on giving people a little extra during a tough economic time, including free bus rides on Election Day, free Thanksgiving turkeys at Cricket stores, and holiday cash through engaging radio promotions. Non-profit partnerships with The Hunger Task Force and DreamBikes further allowed Cricket to tie into the news of the day and generate goodwill as a new neighbor and corporate citizen.
Cricket’s launch in Wisconsin was its most successful ever, generating 3,000 new customer activations, far surpassing the goal of 2,000, and setting a national two-day sales record. More than 25 positive media placements, as well as solidified relationships with community partners, put Cricket on solid ground to grow in Wisconsin and further expand in the region.
