The Blood Center

Increasing blood donation in Wisconsin

To target consumer issues such as fear, time constraints, and general apathy, The Blood Center tapped Buzz Monkeys to help increase blood donations throughout Wisconsin. A year-round educational and motivational PR campaign was created that included a media blitz during the summer and holidays, when donations tend to drop.

Buzz Monkeys went to work creatively promoting countless blood drives, sharing the personal stories of blood donors and recipients and reinventing the blood donation story for the media. The efforts paid off with 465 news stories secured and more than 42 million media impressions generated, raising awareness of the need for blood donors. Call volume to The Blood Center increased by more than 14 percent, resulting in an additional 12,000 blood donation appointments.
