Playful and persistent media relations efforts tell Food With Integrity story

Just before baseball season, Buzz Monkeys turned the typical tailgate upside-down, offering Chipotle as a fresh alternative to hauling grills, meat, and trimmings to the ballpark. The blitz garnered interviews on morning TV news and with Wisconsin's top morning radio team. To extend the story, buckets overflowing with fresh produce and colorful press materials invited key media to "spice up summer," resulting in a TV cooking segment and two major newspaper features on Chipotle's mission of Food with Integrity. Another major media push offered exclusive opportunities go “behind the line” for a food sampling session. The effort re-engaged key media contacts, introduced Chipotle to a new wave of freelancers and bloggers, and led to a national feature in Food and Drink.

The Great Burrito Hunt brings parks partnership to life

To add excitement and value to Chipotle’s partnership with the Naperville Park District, Buzz Monkeys planned the month-long Great Burrito Hunt to get Naperville residents into the parks and generate burrito buzz. With a year of free burritos on the line for every one found, word spread like wildfire in newspapers and online as the 30 huge faux burritos were hidden.

Before dawn on kick-off day, burrito hunters took to the parks … with a few even playing hooky from school and work. The Park District’s website kept a live tally and posted photos of winners as they turned in their giant foiled finds. To celebrate the end of the hunt, winners gathered at Chipotle for a “wrap party.” In addition to significantly increasing traffic in the parks and at Chipotle, the Great Burrito Hunt generated more than 2 million media impressions, including 15 print stories, two radio interviews, and a story on FoxNews.com.
